Observed each year on the last Monday of May, Memorial Day reminds us of the sacrifices made to protect our freedoms. As we gather with family and friends, it's important to pause and reflect—whether by attending a local ceremony or simply taking a quiet moment to remember those we've lost. The holiday traces back to the American Civil War, when communities honored fallen soldiers by decorating their graves. It's also a busy travel weekend, so staying safe matters. Be mindful on the roads, practice water safety, and take care when grilling or using fireworks. Above all, Memorial Day is about remembrance—honoring the people behind the sacrifice and ensuring their legacy is never forgotten. 		Meet Aubrey Ptacek Aubrey is one of the newest faces here at Wilson Communications, recently joining our team in 2025 as the AP and Admin Support Specialist. Aubrey grew up in Dubuque, KS and graduated from Wilson High School in 2008 before continuing her education at Barton County Community College and Kansas State University where she earned her degree in Personal Financial Planning along with Business Management and Leadership. As part of our Accounts Payable team, her focus is on all aspects of the accounts payable process, which includes company accounts receivable, journal entries, and working with vendors. Aubrey plays a vital role in company compliance requirements and handles a variety of financial tasks that help keep operations running smoothly behind the scenes. When asked about her favorite part of the job, she shared that she enjoys the opportunity to learn new skills and take on new challenges. Outside of work, Aubrey stays busy with her three children—Ava, Hazlee, and Rhett.  She loves spending as much time as possible with family and friends and serves on the Wilson Economic Development and Wilson Chamber of Commerce executive boards, staying connected within the community. We're excited to have Aubrey as part of the Wilson Communications family. Her knowledge, ambition and "ornery" personality make her a great addition to the team.
