Calling Features Guide

Get step-by-step instructions to make the most of the calling features in your plan.

Enable

To enable the barring on your line, pick up the handset, and dial *341. An announcement confirms that call barring has been activated.

Disable

To deactivate the barring to place a 1+ call, pick up the handset, dial *351, an announcement prompts you to enter your PIN code.
An announcement confirms that call barring has been deactivated. When you have completed your call, and wish to turn the Call Barring back on, hang up, then pick up the handset and press *341.

To use Call Forwarding:

  1. Dial *72, wait for confirmation tone, enter the forwarding to number, wait for a confirmation tone again, then the phone will ring at the forwarded number. If there is no one there to answer the call, then you must hang up and repeat the process by pressing *72, wait for the confirmation tone, enter the forwarded to number again and wait for the busy tone, then hang up.

To cancel Call Forwarding:

  1. Dial *73, listen for three beeps.
  2. Hang up

To Use:

  1. Dial 658-8000 from Wilson or 1+7856588000 from another exchange.
  2. Listen to the voice instructions which will guide you through entering your landline telephone number, PIN and Call Forwarding options.

To Cancel – Follow the same process.

To Use:

  1. Press *63.
  2. Listen to the voice instructions which will guide you through the steps of turning the service on and off, as well as updating your Preferred Call Forwarding List.

To Use:

  1. Press *69.
  2. Listen for an announcement that will tell you the phone number of the party who last called you.
  3. If you wish to return the call, press 1.
  4. If you do not wish to return the call, hang up.
  5. If the line is busy, an announcement will tell you so. Hang up and the system will redial the number and inform you when it is no longer busy. You will hear a short-short-long ring when the line is free. Your call will automatically be made when you lift the handset.

To Cancel:

  1. Press *89 and listen for the tone or announcement.

Note there is no time limit for returning a missed call; however, you are only able to return the LAST incoming call. If the number you are trying to reach is outside the area served by Call Return, you will hear a recording advising you that the call cannot be made. After a call during which you hear a Call Waiting tone, you can use Call Return to return a call to the Call Waiting number.


To Use:

  1. Press *60.
  2. Listen to the voice instructions which will guide you through the steps of turning the service on and off, as well as updating your Call Screening List.

To Use:

  1. Depress the switchhook or Flash button.
  2. Dial the number the call is to be transferred to.
  3. When the party answers, tell them that you are transferring a call to them and hang up.

To Use:

  1. When you are on a call, you’ll hear a beep to let you know there is another call waiting to be answered.
  2. To answer the call, depress and release the switchhook.
  3. To disconnect calls, hang up.
  4. If you don’t want to take the second call, simply ignore the beep.
  5. To switch between calls, depress the switchhook.

Cancel Call Waiting – Allows you to temporarily disable Call Waiting either before or during an important call. If you use a computer modem or fax machine on a line with Call Waiting, you will want to use this feature to prevent data transmission errors.

To Use before a call:

  1. Lift the phone handset and dial ‘*70’.
  2. Listen for three beeps and a steady dial tone.
  3. Dial the desired telephone number.

To Use during a call:Depress the switchhook, then listen for three beeps and a steady dial tone.Press ‘*70’, then listen for three beeps.Wait for automatic reconnection to your existing call.

Note: When Cancel Call Waiting is active, the second caller will hear a busy signal.

Call Waiting Preferred and Priority Ringing – Allows you to program your telephone line to ring with a special ringing pattern whenever you are called from a select list of phone numbers. Your phone will ring with a normal ringing pattern for all other calling numbers. If you also have Call Waiting, you will hear a distinctive Call Waiting tone whenever someone on your list calls while you are on the phone.

To Use:

  1. Lift the phone handset and dial ‘*61’.
  2. Listen to the voice instructions which will guide you through the steps of how to set up and activate/deactivate Priority Ringing or to change your Priority Ringing list.

To Use Per Call ID Block:

  1. Lift the phone handset and dial ‘*67’.
  2. Place your call as normal.

Notes: You must activate Per Call ID Block before every call you do not want your ID to go out with. 800 service numbers cannot be prevented from receiving your ID activated before each call.

To Activate:

  1. Lift the phone handset and dial ‘*78’, then listen for three beeps. Hang up. When this feature is active, callers will receive a busy signal or announcement. At this time, callers who know your PIN may dial it and ring your telephone.

To Deactivate:

  1. Lift the phone handset and dial ‘*79’, then listen for three beeps.
  2. Hang up.

To Change:

  1. Lift the phone handset and dial ‘#87’ (or ‘*10’), then listen for three beeps and a steady dial tone.
  2. Enter your PIN (maximum of 7 digits).
  3. Press ‘#’, and listen for three beeps. Hang up.

To Use:

  1. Pick up the handset and listen for dial tone.
  2. Lift the phone handset and dial ‘*66’.
  3. If you hear ringing, wait for the party to answer. If the line is busy, listen for three beeps or an announcement. Hang up.

To Use:

  1. Lift the phone handset and dial ‘*64’.
  2. Listen to the voice instructions, which will guide you through the steps of turning the service on and off, as well as updating your Special Call Acceptance List.

To Set Up:

  1. Lift the phone handset and dial ‘*74’ for 8 Number List Speed Calling (1 digit, codes 2-9) OR Dial ‘*75’ for 30 Number List Speed Calling (2 digit, codes 20-49).
  2. Listen for three beeps and a steady dial tone.
  3. Enter the Speed Calling code (2-9 or 20-49).
  4. Enter the desired telephone number, press ‘#’, then listen for three beeps.
  5. Hang up.

To Use:

  1. Dial the desired Speed Calling code (2-9 or 20-49), then press ‘#’.

To Change:

  1. Follow steps 1-5 to Set Up.

To set up Voice Mail:

  1. From your telephone line dial *15.
  2. Follow the tutorial to set your passcode (4 to 10-digit number), personalize your greeting and record your name.

To retrieve messages:

  1. From your telephone line dial *15.
  2. Enter your passcode.
  3. Press P (7) to play current messages or press U (8) to enter User Options.

To Remote Access Voice Mail

Dial 785 + your prefix + 9999 and at the prompt dial your 10-digit mailbox number 785xxxxxxx*.Main Menu
P (7) To play current messages
M (6) To make new message
U (8) To change User Options
X (9) To exit the system

P (7) To play current messages
G (4) To give message to another user
K (5) To keep the current message
